To Have a Successful Internet Marketing Business Choose Your Affiliate Programs Carefully

November 27, 2009

You have your own online business website all set up and now need to add a couple of affiliate programs to it to earn you extra income. The problem is that there are just so many affiliate programs available on the internet that it just seems impossible to know which one to choose.

Here are a few tips that may help to make the decision a bit easier;

1. If you find a program that really appeals to you and is right for the niche that you have chosen to work in then start off doing some research on it. Ask questions! You need to study and learn as much as possible about any affiliate program before you even think of joining.

2. Will it cost you any money to join? Affiliate programs are generally free to join, so if there is a charge find out what the reason for that charge is and unless you are happy with the answer look for another program.

3. How do they pay their commissions for example is it via Paypal or do they issue checks? If they issue checks is this done monthly or more often and if it is once a month on what date can you expect to be paid?

With many affiliate programs you will be required to reach a certain minimum in commission before the company will issue you with a check. In other words there is a minimum level that you are required to reach before they will post the check out to you.

4. Ask how referrals are tracked for your affiliate website to the company and how long these will remain in the system. It is important that you have sufficient confidence in the affiliate program to know that anyone that you refer to the program or any sales that you make will be credited to you through your referral link.

It is important to know how long these referrals of yours will stay in the system as many people do not buy things immediately. They like to take some time to think it through and will often come back after some time to make the actual purchase. You need to know if you will still benefit from this sale.

5. Find out who the retailer of the affiliate program is. You need to know something about the people you are going to be doing business with and to discover whether or not it is a solid company. This point is extremely important because you do not want your name and reputation to be associated with a disreputable affiliate company. The more you are able to learn about the retailer the easier is will be for you to decide if the affiliate program is the right one for your own online income business.

6. Another point to consider is whether the affiliate program is a one or two tier program. A one tier program will only pay you for work that you personally have done, where as a two tier program pays you a commission for what you have done personally plus any work that is done by people that you may have sponsored into the program.

This type of affiliate program is generally better as you benefit from sponsoring people and earn a residual income with very little extra work. The beauty of residual income is that it will still bring in money for you even when you are unable to work.

Last but not least is what sort of commission the company actually pays. The percentage of the commission will be different in every company so find out what you will be earning per sale before you commit yourself. Look for the programs that offer the higher end commissions as these will be far more beneficial to your business. Remember that the success of your online income business depends how much you will be earning.

Affiliate Marketing – What is CPA?

November 27, 2009

CPA is a an affiliate marketing system that pays for certain actions completed from the affiliate’s website. CPA means cost per action or cost per acquisition, and while it can include cost per sale, like typical affiliate marketing, it also includes payment for leads rather than actual sales.

CPA affiliates can make more money in less time than the non-CPA affiliate. There are two reasons for this: First, due to the quality of traffic affiliates are expected to provide, CPA networks can charge the merchants more for listing the product, and the network will pass this on to the affiliate in the form of larger commissions. Second, because affiliates are paid per lead, which often requires that the prospect simply enter his or her zip code into a form, it is easier for the affiliate to make money as compared to typical affiliates who must make a sale to earn money.

CPA networks draw advertisers to list their products with them and pay the fee by promising them good results. This means that all leads provided should be motivated to purchase, or to otherwise make the advertiser money. For this reason, CPA networks tend to be harder to join than typical networks.

Affiliates who want to join are required to have a website and to describe how they plan to market the offers. This usually requires some knowledge and experience in online marketing and traffic generation.

Once an affiliate is approved by the network manager, he or she is assigned to an affiliate manager, who will work with the affiliate one on one, to help him or her improve conversions from the traffic produced. In this way, the CPA network and the affiliate work closely together to help each other earn more money.

While more lucrative than the typical affiliate network or program, CPA networks require more specialized knowledge. Accordingly, it is best if you join the typical affiliate networks like Clickbank or Paydotcom and learn how to drive traffic and market products online before attempting to join a CPA network. Once you’ve become a seasoned marketer and you have a good website that draws a lot of traffic, most CPA networks would love to have you.
